Medical University of Gdańsk

The Medical University of Gdańsk is a modern, internationally recognised medical institution and the only medical university in Poland awarded the prestigious Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) status. It is also the only medical university in Poland belonging to the European University Alliances, and holds the HR Excellence in Research award, confirming its adherence to European standards of scientific careers and transparent recruitment.

MUG educates over 6,000 students, doctoral candidates and postgraduate learners, including more than 900 international students from nearly 70 countries, making it the most internationalised medical university in Poland. The University continuously strengthens the quality of research and education, particularly within its Priority Research Areas: oncology, cardiology, and molecular sciences.

MUG participates in numerous strategic projects, including the IDUB programme, the creation of a new research centre with Uppsala University, the Regional Research Agenda in Health, NAWA STER, PO WER 3.5, and multiple Erasmus+ and NAWA mobility initiatives. The University also develops dedicated internationalisation structures, such as the Internationalisation Office, Welcome Point and Alumni services, ensuring high-quality support for international staff, students and researchers.
